Market · Coombs

Old Country Market (Coombs)

The market with goats on the roof. A year-round food hall, deli, ice-cream counter, pizza patio and gift shops — the most photographed stop between Nanaimo and Tofino. Heaving in summer; off-peak in shoulder season.

Beach · Parksville

Parksville Community Beach

The wide sandy beach at the centre of town — host to the international sandcastle festival, a kids splash park, a long pier, a sea-walk and the Lions playground. The most-walked stretch of sand on the Oceanside.

Qualicum Beach Foreshore

A west-facing pebbled shore that lights up at sunset. Westwood-style benches the length of the waterfront, a heritage seawall promenade, and a bandstand that hosts free concerts on summer Sundays.

A log-cabin resort with the largest hot mineral pool in the region (the Grotto Spa). Pool day-passes available; books out on rainy weekends. Splash park and small beach access on-site.

A general store with a candy counter, fudge, gift shops and a chip wagon out the back. Two minutes walk from the Old Country Market — pair the visits.
