About OceansideToday.
A locally-run almanac for the Oceanside — Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanoose Bay, Coombs, Errington, Bowser and the rest of the region. Free, independent, and updated daily.OceansideToday is a hand-curated guide to what's on, what to do, and where to eat across the central east coast of Vancouver Island. It exists because nobody else was doing it well — the events were scattered across a dozen Facebook pages, the restaurants were stale on every other site, and you couldn't find a beach for the SEO sludge.
How picks are chosen
Two filters: does it actually exist? and would a local recommend it? Events get scraped nightly from venue calendars across the region, then human-reviewed before they go live. Places (beaches, trails, restaurants, pubs) come from a hand-built seed list, the kind your friend who's lived here twenty years would send you in a text.
If something's listed here, it's because it's worth knowing about. If something's missing, it's because we haven't gotten to it yet — tell us.
Who runs it
OceansideToday is independently operated out of the Oceanside region by Adam Walker. It's not affiliated with any tourism board, municipality, or Chamber of Commerce. There are no investors, no algorithmic ranking, and no pay-to-list arrangements.
Press & mentions
If you're writing about the region and want to reference a listing, just link to the page — the canonical URL won't change once an event or place is published. For press enquiries or partnerships, see the contact link below.

Privacy
This site doesn't run ad-tech, doesn't run third-party tracking pixels, and doesn't sell anything about you. The newsletter signup stores your email and your selected interests, nothing else. Server access logs are kept for 30 days for debugging and rate-limiting. That's the whole policy.
Terms
Content on OceansideToday is provided as-is for personal use. Event listings are the responsibility of the listed organizers — confirm details with them before showing up. Place information is gathered from public sources and may change without notice. You're welcome to link to anything here.
